Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get into the dance business?
My path with dance began when I was 6 years old when my mom enrolled me in ballet class because I was VERY CLUMSY. Since I enjoyed it, I ended up staying with it ever since! I studied through high school where I became a member of my high school dance team. After that, I became a member of my collegiate team while also becoming an instructor and choreographer for Universal Dance Association. After college and graduate school, I entered into the mental health field all while continuing to teach and choreograph all while coaching collegiate and high school dance teams (the one I was a member of!).
I really found my home when I began teaching at School of the Arts about 8 years ago. In that time, I have had the greatest experience in developing the love of dance and performance in kids and adults alike! I was asked to become the owner and director of the studio in addition to continuing to coach my high school team a few years ago and I jumped at the chance! It is a dream come true; I LOVE what I do!

What inspires your performances? What’s your favorite dance genre?
My choreography is always inspired by those I choreograph for; the dancers’ energy and love of dance is the best inspiration! I love dance as a whole no matter the style, but my favorites are Pom, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

What inspired your interest in dance? Can you share your personal experiences?
My interest in dance actually grew over time. At first, I was only doing it because my mother registered me. As time went on, and I learned more and became more skilled and my passion for the art grew. Once I began to choreograph it became something that I couldn’t live without.
What excited you most about working with young dancers?
I love to see their love for dance ignite. Whether it is mastering a skill or perfecting a routine over time, to see my dancers take pride in themselves and to pursue more and greater for themselves is something that will never get old.

How did you discover Pro Tapes tape products like Pro Gaff and Pro Spike Tape?
I was replacing the gaff tape I was ordering online often, which quickly became frustrating. Luckily, one of my dancer’s parents recommended Pro Tapes Pro Gaff. The difference blew me away! Pro Gaff is durable, well-made, and makes my life easier as a studio owner!

How does Pro Gaff and Pro Spike Tape enhance your work as a Dancer/Artistic Director? What do you like most about it?
Products like Pro Spike Tape definitely hold up a lot better than all of the other brands that I have used in the past. The durability of the product is a big plus; I love that it can be danced on directly without fraying or coming up off of the floor!

What advice would you like to share with someone who is just getting started in dance?
It may sound cliche, but…do what you love. If you feel compelled to move and dance, DO IT!
