Julio Hernandez, the creative artist behind Globos Rey, has built an international reputation for transforming events into memorable experiences with his eye-catching and colorful balloon installations. He travels the world to design incredible setups and teach aspiring balloon artists the tips and skills he’s developed over the years. In this interview, Julio shares how he got his start, what inspires his creativity, and why Pro Tapes products, especially UGlu, are essential tools in his process.
1. Do you have a website or social media sites you’d like to share with our audience?
Yes! You can find my work on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok as @JulioGlobosyFiguras. There I share decoration projects, classes, and tips for balloon artists.
2. Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you begin working with balloon art and what types of projects do you enjoy the most?
I started in the balloon world several years ago, inspired by the possibility of transforming an ordinary event into an unforgettable experience. I really enjoy designing high-impact setups, such as weddings, gender reveals, themed parties, and corporate projects. I am also passionate about teaching others to develop their artistic talent.

3. What are some of the biggest challenges you face while creating balloon installations?
One of the greatest challenges is working with time and weather conditions, since balloons are very sensitive to temperature and the space where they are set up. Another challenge is designing large projects that require precise logistics, proper materials, and teamwork.

4. What inspires your work? Are there any themes, styles, or cultural influences that draw your attention?
I am inspired by nature, colors, and cultural celebrations. Mexico is a country full of rich traditions and colors, and that greatly influences my designs. I enjoy creating installations that convey joy, magic, and elegance at the same time.

5. You also teach balloon art classes internationally. How does traveling and working in different countries influence both your work and teaching style?
Traveling has allowed me to learn from different cultures and understand how each country celebrates. This has enriched my style and motivates me to teach with a broader perspective. My classes not only focus on techniques but also on inspiring artists to find their own personal style.

6. How did you first discover Pro Tapes products?
I discovered Pro Tapes through other international artists who recommended it. Since then, it has become an essential part of my work, especially because of its quality and practicality.
7. UGlu has become a go-to tool for balloon artists. How does it help your process and why do you consider it essential?
UGlu is amazing. It helps me save time and secure details that would otherwise be more complicated with other methods. It is discreet, strong, and versatile, making it ideal for both small and large installations.
8. Do you have any upcoming projects or events you are looking forward to?
Yes, I will soon be teaching courses in Mexico, as well as continuing to create themed setups for companies and social events. I am especially excited about the holiday season, since it is a time where I can play with creativity and the magic of design.

9. What advice would you share with someone looking to grow their skills and career in the balloon art industry?
My advice is to keep learning continuously, not to be afraid to invest in training, and to find your own unique style. Discipline and creativity are key, as well as the ability to work in teams and adapt to each client.
